The Projects We Support

When this project began in 2018, the teachers at the 9 Evangelical Church of Liberia (ECOL) schools were completely dependent on income from student fees in a very poor economy with 85% unemployment. The Canadian donor team set up salary subsidy so that 74% of the payment came from student fees while Canadians provided the other 26% allowing an increase in pay and better equality between schools. Covid-19 brought a lock-down in the spring of 2020 that shut down most of their economic activity eliminating most parent’s ability to pay any student fees. Now Canadian donors are contributing almost 100% of income for 93 teachers and other school staff so are only able to provide $15 USD per teacher. With this income, the families of these Christian teachers (our fellow-believers) have the privilege of eating one meal every 3 days. The team of Canadian donors is struggling to maintain this level of salary subsidy. More donations are desperately needed. For more information click HERE
